TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
In my company we had this seminar last December. A guy named Klaus Hofer
came to us, a certified IMAP trainer. It was the best seminar I ever had.
You do not need to accept and apply their procedures, but they give you a
new prospective of what your readers really want to read in a handbook. In
this way you will see a lot of information disappearing from your handbooks.
On the other hand, you will learn how to structure, present and position
your information in the handbook, so that the reader doesn't have to search
to find the information he/she needs. In addition, you gain time in your
work by defining the so-called goalposts for your handbook and your
audience.
I can only suggest that you attend this seminar.
Greetings

Subject: Training seminar feedback?
Hi folks--
If anyone has taken a 3-day seminar called "Developing Usable Content &
Documentation?" from a company called Information Mapping (see http://www.infomap.com/offerings/ducd.htm), I'd like to hear your feedback.
A sister company is talking to them about setting up a class and we've been
invited to participate.
I'm woefully backlogged on reading the Tech-whirl digests, so if you would
please send it to me directly or cc: me, that would be idea.
Many thanks,
Mary
