Don't want a bunch of people writing to me
Don't feel qualified
Scared of a particular List member
What's the point?

To add to Keith's suggestion I would only include one more option:
More than one of the above
I tend to lurk more often than not, occasionally replying only to the
original poster for a few reasons - fear of reprisal if my boss sees a post
or the fear of showing my ignorance in a post (even if the intent is to
assist the original poster with their problem).
