Instead of "interfacing with Famous Software," how about something like...

"You can enter contacts manually, or you can use the contact information in your
Famous Software address book.

To enter contacts manually:
1. Fill in the fields . . .

To use contact information from Famous Software:
1. Click Update.
2. Follow the prompts on your screen. . . "
