I've seen this rant before, and I am still left wondering.... why would the STC have sessions that addressed technical topics?

In a world of high specialization, you have to get your tech mex from targeted resources. If you're a Java guy, you go to JavaOne (I did). If you're a security guy, you go to DefCon. If you're a network guy, you go to Net+Op (or something). If you're a dot-com guy, you go to, well, the Social Security office to pick up your check.

At an STC conference, I would expect nothing less than topics dedicated to "design approaches" and "case studies" and other things that will get you fired for not doing work.

Plus, if the conference is any good, you can get plenty of free t-shirts so you don't have to buy one of Andrew's.
