Hi all.
I was looking for information on various methods of estimating projects
today. Searched the TECHWR-L archives and ran across a thread that ran in
September 2001. In one of the posts, Leslie Johnson referred to
"industry-standard methods" for estimating. I followed the threat to its
end, but never found another mention. I tried a couple of searches for them
in the archives and on a few search engines, but found nothing.
Is there such a thing? I wonder if perhaps Leslie was referring to Hackos'
industry averages? If not, where would I begin looking for such a thing? Are
they ISO-type standards? Government standards?
If anyone knows where I can find such standards, please let me know. I'm
trying to make a case for changing the way our company estimates. I'd like
to be able to pitch a couple of alternate methods that might work much
better than what we now have. Having an industry standard to refer to would
be great.
Thanks.
