Thanks everyone. I never use "that that," because it looks awkward to me,
but I thought I'd find out what I was missing. I guess not much.

Non-answer:

That "that" that THAT student used is wrong.

The oddest response that I can give to Benjamin is the punctuation quiz
from 30+ years ago... How do you punctuate

Johnny where the teacher had had had had had had had had had had had the
teachers approval

In the end, I try to avoid multiple uses of a word anywhere in a sentence,
let alone next to each other.
