Annamarie -

I work for an ergonomics consulting firm, and I've learned a few things here
over the past year while working on their training materials. Most have
already been mentioned by other posters. The one thing I'm constantly
checking as I work: I make sure my forearms/wrists/hands are straight. You
want to avoid any bend at the wrist in any direction (up or down, or to
either side). Yes, the keyboard and mouse should be at the same level, and
your arms should create a 90-degree angle while you type (as should your
legs). At my previous job, I was having problems that I thought were
symptoms of carpal tunnel. Turns out I was resting my elbows on the work
surface (an ergonomist's worst nightmare), and I was experiencing symptoms
of cubital tunnel syndrome instead. My work posture is much different
today, and I've have only very mild and intermittent discomfort.

Hi all,

Since I'm beginning to exhibit early symptoms of carpal tunnel, I
thought I'd ask for personal experience with forestalling the
syndrome....
