I started to have trouble many years ago. I then switched to a Wacom
graphics pad. Holding a pen is so instinctive and I can do a lot of
things 10x faster than with a mouse.

Since changing I've hardly had any problems, despite regulrly
spending 17 or 18 hours a day at the keyboard for weeks on end. The
only thing that still bothers me is the location of the transformer
in laptops. Often it's under the ball of my left hand, and the heat
can leave my hand aching for hours afterwards. Getting old ...

Simon.
