SOLVED: Printing graphics to the edge of the paper

I dutifully re-checked all the page margin settings in Word and Distiller,
but that did not work...then I downloaded the AdobePS Drivers, but I could
not get those to work the way they should. Then I thought to myself: "What's
all this about PPD files? What's in those suckers anyway?"

I went hunting for my HP C-4500 PS printer's PPD file, and tried opening it
in trusty old Notepad. And guess what? It's a text file in some semblance of
English! I scanned down for anything relevant and came across an "imageable
area" setting. Bingo. I set the imageable area to the page size, tried it
again, and it worked.

I'm so, so relieved. Thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction.
