John,

This will seem really weird....but in your resume wouldn't you just have a
bullet point - under tasks at that company of:

"Involved in development of performance measures to set annual targets for
company departments."

or maybe:

"Involved in calculation of meaningful annual performance targets for
company departments."

Or something similar.

Calling it empiricism, or bench-marking, is all very fine....however I would
have thought empiricism is more describing the type of process used (and is
likely to get folks asking lots of questions about empiricism and rather
than about what benefit and how accurate your targets were), and
bench-marking is "usually" done against external factors thus wouldn't seem
to apply in this instance of an internal department target.

It just states what you were doing....and that is what you were seeking for
your resume?

regards and thanks,

Subject: Performance Measure Question

I'm busy doing a routine resume update, and I'm hoping someone here can give

me some good suggestions on how to phrase something.

The department in question has performance measures they are expected to
meet. For example, one of the perfromance measures is "Percentage of
Successful Completion of Adult Offender Probation Dispositons"

My task is to come up with a number, say 65%, using available research
tools.

Management can then take that number and decide of the department is on
target or not.

I'm wrestling with a way to describe the process of coming up with the 65%.

Has anybody else here done this kind of work? And how did you describe it
on your resume?

Thanks.
