Yes, you are justified. That doesn't mean it will go over well with the person reviewing your proposal.

The approach I usually take is to leave the questions untouched and to follow our own company style in our responses. So, for example, if a word is misspelled, or the wrong word is used, or, heaven forfend, they've double-spaced after periods, I don't change that in the original questions. However, I use the correct word, spelled properly, etc., in the response. And I answer the question that was intended rather than the badly formed question that was asked.

If someone else has written our responses, though, and I have to do a general spell check and cleanup, I've been known to use Replace All on some items, and this does result in some corrections. I just try not to be blatant about it. After all, the object is to get the contract, not to insult the person who prepared the RFP.
