Or walk away from it. Sounds like the client knows something you
don't and knows that if he does it by the hour, he'll get a much
bigger bill than he'd like...which means you are now going to eat
that time unless you have an ironclad SOWand stick to it.

For 18 years, I sold a business service that involved conversion of
office documentation to either microfilm or digital images. In the
whole 18 years, I ALWAYS charged by the page, never a fixed price for
the conversion. Sometimes there were less pages than the customer
thought and the bill ended smaller, but that happened maybe 1 in 10 times.
