Hello listas

This email follows up on the discussion of SPAM generated by posting to
TechWR-L. _Prima_ _facie_ evidence suggests that a TechWR-L posting indeed
generates SPAM. :-(

Discussion:
November 28, 2001, the same day I posted my first message to this list, I
signed up for Hotmail and Yahoo email accounts. Here are the results from
11/28-12/21.

- A never-disclosed or used Yahoo account received
51 SPAM messages and 134 "bulk email" messages.

- A never-disclosed or used Hotmail account received
fourteen (14) SPAM messages.

- This email account, which previously had never
received SPAM, nor to my knowledge been disclosed
outside my company, received two (2) SPAM messages.

Additionally, five (5) TechWR-l listas replied with sincere opinions
regarding the perfect integrity of an account at either Hotmail or Yahoo. Of
course, I did not count these as unsolicited. :-) However, I must respond
that activating email filtering is not the same as receiving no SPAM.

Happy new year!
