You're a smart person (also obvious from your posts) - analyze these
situations, and make some decisions. Your boss has already told you she
wants solutions, not the mere identification of problems.

Pick a font, any font - the world won't end. Italicize or underline - life
will go on.

Remember, if the MS guide, or the Chicago manual, or the Sun manual, or
the Gregg manual were the ONLY correct choice, the other books wouldn't
exist.

Pick your styles, either arbitrarily or after much soul-searching. Then
use them consistently. There - that's a universal rule for you.


Good luck, and relax a little - it's just tech writing.
