The increase in the number of jobs being posted is based, primarily, on
forecasts that the market will improve in the first quarter of '02. I have
also seen an increase in the number of job postings, but those don't mean
anyone is actually being hired, yet. Since the early part of this year I
have seen lots of job postings, most of which were back-burnered.

Keep applying, but the economy isn't improving until you actually get hired
for one of those new jobs.

Best of luck.

Regards,
Pete Sanborn

Has anybody noticed a sudden upsurge in the number of jobs available in
the last week or so? I don't know whether to attribute it to the fall of
Kabul (and the possibly false belief that the war is over), the
improvement in the stock market, the phrases of the moon or pure
coincidence, but, in the last week, I've had four employers contact me
about possible work. This may not sound like much, but it's a rate about
eight times greater than what I've learned to expect in the last few months.

Three of these possible jobs include marcom work, by the way -
specifically, marcom done from a solid understanding of the technology
being advertised.

Is anyone else seeing similar changes? I know people are still being
laid off, but maybe some hiring has started, too.
