It will be a cold day in hell when I join a union.
In addition to the many good points other have made, I have one other to
offer: the high-tech industry has resoundingly rejected unions. Unions are
neither wanted nor needed. Attempts to unionize at high-tech firms have,
for the most part, been unsuccessful.
I think is due in part to the fact that high-tech hires mostly skilled,
educated people who demand reasonable wages. The firms that hire for these
positions know they cannot work these people 90 hours a week for $4.50 an
hour.
In other words, the market has corrected itself - which is the way it
should be.
As for the National Writers Union...I have no patience to listen to the
uninformed ranting of communists. News Flash: Capitalism womps Communism
in regulation play!
I feel some flames coming my way.
