Yes. I had this happen to me. I had a non-native speaker of English tell me
that there was no such word as 'passive' - that this word did not exist in
the English language.

I thought I was the only person who had ever been through that.

I had to laugh at Abby's Reviewer of Doom checklist. Another item to add
would be: 6. When someone who speaks English as their second language makes
corrections to your writing, that are *not* proper English, yet they insist
it's correct.
