This topic has been addressed repeatedly and in depth on this board - have
you checked the archives? I think you'll find what you need there.

The task is basically as big or small as you want to make it, from
painstakingly drafting elaborate internal documents to just buying a few
copies of mass-market style guides to pass out to your team. First look at
the time, resources, and money you have available. Then set the scope of
your project accordingly.
