Not sure about the pdf problem, Valerie, but I'm betting you're getting the extra page in Word because the two tables take up the entire page, and Word WILL put an empty paragraph marker after the table (I've never found a way to eliminate this, either, so if there is one, I'd love to know about it.), forcing that empty paragraph marker onto the next page. You need to reduce the tables (or increase the margins somehow) to get the entire document on the one page.

I have a Word 2000 file. It consists of a table of 12 rows and 10 columns.
I have copied and pasted the table so that there are two identical tables
face-up on the page. This will later be reproduced on 8.5x11 and cut in
half. For reasons I have not yet detected, Word is putting a blank page
that cannot be deleted past this. That's not the real problem, however,
though it could be related to part of it. When I save it to a PDF using
Distiller (Acrobat 4), it changes one of the fonts (a TrueType font called
Frutiger55 Condensed) to what appears to be gibberish and then puts the
tables on separate pages. This means I have two problems: two pages instead
of one, and unreadable text for the one font (the other fonts appear just
fine). I tried saving it with PDFWriter, but it substituted fonts all over
the place (although it did give me both tables on one page). I tried
printing to a PDF file using Distiller as the printer and had more luck. It
put both tables on one page and allowed me to print as many (or few) pages
as I wanted. As this is something I needed now, I broke down and switched
fonts to a nice, generic Arial narrow and printed the PDF, page one of the
document only. This doesn't tell me why Word and/or Acrobat was doing this
in the first place.
