We are ISO9001 registered, and our signed-off docs become records that
we have to maintain. I have two methods of keeping the records
(depending on what they are).

1. Scanned copies are kept online and stored in a document management
product called FYI. FYI has B2-like security and its own document
control capabilities including check-in, check-out, and automatic
versioning. No sign-out procedure is necessary because FYI's security
tracks and logs all entries automatically. The ISO auditors just love
it! FYI also has workflow and items that have to be forwarded for
review can be sent electronically with each step being logged and
controlled. It also purges the documents at whatever time frame is
stipulated by the administrator.
2. Hard copies (if needed) are kept in a two-draw cabinet filed under
the project name.
