I haven't had that problem, but am wondering why you don't use PSP's very
powerful capture functionality? For my money, it's even better than
Snagit, and WAY easier than the PrintScreen method.

When I run into problems that make no sense, I try different approaches to
the same ends. Maybe try saving it as a different format, like .jpg.

Then, reduce the colors to 256, and save it as a GIF.

But I'd definitely start out by capturing it with PSP - then you KNOW
you're starting out with an image that PSP can play nicely with.
