PDF to Word

(Searched the archives but found nothing.)

Legend has it that one can save a PDF file as RTF, and then it's editable in
Word. I just tried it for the first time, and I get almost nothing but
gibberish, e.g.:

&%______
$&_____#_&_#______ ______%____*____$_)___%___'_&_#__________

Can anyone help?
