Julie,
This is almost always a subjective designation within a given
organization. A level IV at one company may be something very different at
another company (assuming the two companies even use the same titles - my
company doesn't have level IV, for example. We go from III to Senior). To my
knowledge, there isn't any standard.
You're best bet is to get a specific job description, its that's
possible.

Hi, is there an online reference with a description of what level tech
writers might be ascribed and what the duties of those levels typically
are?

For example, I'm wondering what skill set I'd need as a Tech Writer IV.

Thanks in advance,
-julie
