Hardest part of getting started?

For those who are (relatively) new to TW, or those who well
remember the days...

We're considering hiring a new TW at the end of this year or
beginning of next. This will be a very junior/newbie position,
and we're starting to look into what we'd need to do to help
our new hire get started.

As someone who "drifted" into TW from educational consulting,
training, and Web Dev, I'd like to be reminded of what things
you found the hardest as a "new" TW. And perhaps a list of 
things you wish someone had told you/done for you when you
were just getting started?

I'd be glad to compile the answers and post them if anyone's
interested.
