Sadly, the rates you just heard are now about average. Over the last year,
rates have really dropped. I have seen ads looking for writers with 5 years
of Frame, some Java or other programming experience, PhotoShop and RoboHELP
for $30 an hour in the LA area. More ads than I want to know about.
Unless you have special skills - can read C++ or script in Javascript -
these are the rates. The days of $75 - $95 an hour for strong writing are
over for now. I don't like it either but there it is. Be happy that you were
offered the part. Many contractors I know are struggling to find anything at
any rate.
But we are having our best year ever. I don't know how, but we are! All I
wanted this year was to keep my people busy.
