I think I've met Betty. Three or four times. Different cities, different hair color--heck, different sexes.

The only things I've seen work successfully are (a) firing her (following all the good advice others have given, which has been superb); and (b) transferring her to different duties, either in your department or someone else's.

The last Betty I had loved the company but was really not cut out for the work I was assigning her. Another manager had an opening that she was a good fit for, so she applied for that job and everyone was happy--especially me.
