I am also a lone tech writer Diane. My draft would have gone out with
"Please review - DRAFT copy" and have draft prominently marked on each page
via watermarking. If they then reacted like your manager did, I would ask
for the email address it was sent to, promote the document to production,
and resend the French that copy.

Sorry, Steve. I disagree. I also am a lone tech writer. I write.
Sometimes I am read.

A few weeks ago, I send a draft of a white paper to a manager on a Friday.
On Monday I received an email, "This is so great that I sent it to France
for use in marketing!" I wish I would have been warned first...
