I agree with a lot that's been said already and have something to add. Here
is a quick and easy 'line' to use when your worth is misunderstood in your
company:

"I am here to reveal your work to the user. It doesn't matter how wonderful
your code is if the user does not realize the feature exists or cannot
figure out how to use it."

Followed up with clean, clear prose, solid product knowledge and timely
user interface/functional specification reviews and you've got the basis
for a good relationship.
