Good morning. My name is Molly Samuels, and I'm a brand-spanking-new member of this list. I am currently in my third year of a three-month contract with the Network Communications division of a large private university in the southeastern US. This contract may *finally* be winding down, but that is another story.
My question is this:
The original project for which I was hired was to create a procedure manual for their Telemanagement system. At the time, they had a finite number of procedures. These were arranged alphabetically into sections according to the department that used them, then paginated with consecutive numbers within each section.
Unfortunately, their finite number of procedures has turned out to be not-so-finite as the division has acquired additional new groups and users discover more neat stuff to do with their Telemanagement system. This #($*% manual is now upwards of 500 pages, with more to come. I do NOT want to have to reprint a section with new page numbers everytime somebody dreams up a new procedure.
Since I will be departing sometime within the next month or so, I'd like to leave them with a way to cleanly insert new or change existing pages without having to reprint the entire section. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to do that? This manual was created using Word.
