Tracy brings up a good point. If all you're worried about is your "hourly rate", then stay with contracting. But salary is only part of the compensation...don't forget about sign-on bonuses, options, incentives, great 401Ks or profit sharing, and of course benefits (company paid) that all enter into the mix.
