Hey, Bill: $60K is the median salary for Orange County, Southern California
TWs, not San Francisco. I had heard SF/Silicon Valley TWs were getting
higher salaries last year than our area (around $75,000 median).

Friends of ours bought a new home outside of SF, in Marin County (north of
the city, across the bay). Their home is about 2,000 sq. ft., and they paid
well over $600,000 for it. We were shocked because a house that size in our
area would sell for around $300,000 (depending on the neighborhood). They
moved in two weeks ago, so housing prices are still insane in the Bay area.

We also couldn't believe that Coldwell Banker was representing properties in
the Haight/Ashbury district. Yuppy hippies must live there, now. That famous
counter-culture intersection boats a Gap store and a Ben & Jerry's ice cream
parlor.

Jenise

$60k in San Francisco? Ouch! I know housing prices out there are insane!!!
Friends of mine bought a brownstone (row house) in SF for a little under
$1M... and it was a fixer-upper!!! (Of course it was in a very desirable
neighborhood...)

Just an observation...

Peter, try Orange County's salaries. I was in San Francisco this past
Saturday and Sunday. Housing up there is twice as much as the prices here,
if not more. (They are also still shell-shocked from the layoffs. Very sad.)

The STC median salary for our three-digit prefix (926xx) is $60,000.
