Subject:Directly inserting html text From:Meg Halter <aiki4us -at- yahoo -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Mon, 13 Aug 2001 09:40:46 -0700 (PDT)
Hi Whirlers --
First, I hunted around a good bit before posting this question.
I have a document written in plain vanilla HTML 4. Turns out
that I need to make a variant of it that will be only slightly
different. Instead of making a new document that's mostly a
repetition of the original, I'd like to set up very simple,
primitive single sourcing.
I want to put the shared text in a separate file and then insert
it into the original and new docs in place of the shared text.
When displayed in a browser, the inserted text would look like
it's part of the doc. Sort of like the <img> tag for graphics
files. The solution needs to be pretty simple, because this
setup will be maintained by the developers after I'm done.
Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks for your help.
-- Meg
