Whilst I am all for empire building and the pushing forward of the frontiers
and representation of technical writing - I suspect in such a small company
you are just creating a middle management position ripe for the first line
of cuts whenever the next downsizing occurs. IMHO.
Also having a better title, on equal footing to the Dev Mngr, will not tone
him down or make it easier to get a decision made. It may even antagonize
him more.
