Sounds like a "pinpoint" to me. A red circle that diminishes to a
pinpoint...

"The Locate function centres the selected feature in the map window and then
draws your
attention to that point by momentarily displaying a shrinking red circle
centred on the
point."

My question is: Can anyone suggest a name for the diminishing red circle?
The developer
of the function doesn't have a name for it, and terms such as "highlight",
"target"
and "bullseye" don't seem to quite fit.
