I guess I would have to ask myself some questions: Do I like working here? Have
they treated me fairly in the past? Do I trust them to treat me fairly in the
future? Questions like that.

Your post doesn't indicate whether they told you why they changed their mind
about the "salary adjustment." If they didn't tell you, I would suggest going
back and asking what happened to it? What changed? It could be a budget issue
that will be resolved--and you'll get your increase--in a few months.

If they've been good to you in the past, I would be inclined to give them the
benefit of the doubt. If you've had a rocky relationship, if you have had trust
issues with your management in the past and this is just the latest example,
then I would consider shopping around for a position with another company.

But you need to look at the total context of your situation, the company's
situation, your history with them, and your future prospects to make your decision.
