As I was finishing up my B.A. I did a survey of the tech comm jobs posted on
the WWW and in the Usenet groups. I found lots of jobs that asked for at
least two years experiences (and a lot asking for five years), but none that
asked for a Master's.

I would only recommend pursuing one for reasons of increasing your job
skills or personal fulfillment (at least those are my reasons).

Does higher education even get factored in once you've built a solid base of
experience? If so, how and why? I'm just curious. All I have is a BS (well,
that and very solid, diverse working experience. *g*), and so far haven't
