This is *only* true if you have Allow Fast Saves turned on, and one good
reason why you shouldn't! The other is that it exponentially increases the
chances of file corruption and gains you almost nothing -- maybe a few
tenths of seconds now and then.

In most, if not all, versions of Word, Allow Fast Saves is turned on by
default, and I *strongly* advise all Word users to turn it off.
