The real problem with objective statements is that they are "... like
soooo, no duh." Whenever I read one of them, I'm always asking myself
why they didn't write just the opposite?... THEN it would really stand
out!
Objective:
To get a dead-end job with a stagnating, shrinking firm where I can't
use any of my skills, while continually decreasing my leadership and
management skills to further cheapen the value of the company's product.
Because no one is going to write that, it illustrates that the original
objective statement provides little new information that the cover
letter wouldn't have already addressed in a much better fashioned --
even tailored to specific needs and requests of the job ad that I'm
responding to. The space in the CV for the objective statement would be
better spent adding another bullet or two to my accomplishments at my
last employer.
