I took the Objective off my resume five years ago and never looked back. 
That and Interests/Hobbies.

I saw a resume the other day that had the woman's height and weight on it 
- has anybody ever heard of this?

I concur with this.  I think that the most common example of this is the 
self-serving "Objective" statement.  Everybody knows that you want a 
"fulfilling job with a growing company," so I recommend leaving the 
"Objective" statement out.  Instead, write a "Summary of Qualifications" 
that provides an overview of what you uniquely offer to the company.
