If asymmetry is the cornerstone of beauty, how come all of the actresses in
Hollywood get two implants instead of just one?
I think you're talking in terms of personal preference here. When I read a
comic book, I prefer for the pages to be asymmetrical and the pictures to
break the planes of their boxes (ala Jack Kirby). When I read a technical
manual, I prefer the presentation to be organized as clutter-free as
possible. I don't read manuals for fun (well, actually, I did rather enjoy
the Vic-20 manual but I was 14 and it was my first time), and the only thing
in a manual that will make me feel "warm and fuzzy" is finding the answer to
my question.

Beauty in nature as perceived by humans is due to asymmetry,
sometimes subtle and often times not. Placing design elements
slightly "off balance" is not only warmer and more esthetic, but
also improves readability/usability.
