Be careful when choosing monospaced fonts for code: we had a
whole team researching a possible change from Courier. We
were jazzed about changing to Lucida Sans until someone
noticed that the letter "l" and the number "1" looked too
much alike. Often, a capital O will look too much like a zero.

You may want to read a very good article that talks
about (and illustrates) factors in choosing a monospace
font, from U&lc Online magazine:

Also, there's Paul Neubauer's review of monospaced fonts at http://home.bsu.edu/prn/monofont/index.html
