I would fail the test miserably. Likewise, if any eighth grade student from
1895 were required to take a test that was so life-centric of today's
lifestyle, would fail. I agree that schools are doing a less-than-adequate
job of teaching our children. I am just trying to point out that today's
audience is a lot different from the 1895 audience in what they are required
to know.

The math section would be a lot different today. Instead of bushels and
acres, we would have questions about meters, light years, and kilobytes.

The history section would cover an extra 100 years and probably dozens of
historical events.

Some of the grammar and orthography questions are trivial. A lot of people
can read and write very well without an explicit knowledge of many of the
rules in question.

In the geography question not a lot has changed. Except they would have to
ask about the EU and a few names of places have changed in the last 106
years.

Thanks for the interesting and entertaining post.
