Hi everyone,

Maybe I should explain my situation a little better. The responses I have
received haven't really answered my question.

I am documenting a product that is used to design online forms. The forms
can include radio buttons and I am updating help topics on creating radio
buttons. The user has several option to change the appearance of buttons,
including setting the background colour of the button (the part that is
normally white). I am trying to explain how the colour they choose for the
background effects the colour of the dot that appears when the button is
selected. My dilemma is what to call that dot, not the whole radio button.
The best ideas I have are "pip" or "selection indicator".

Thanks again,

Andrea Kelso

radio button
Refers to option button, the round buttons in dialog boxes that users select
to make one choice from among several items. Do not use in end-user
documentation; use option or the specific name of the option instead. Avoid
in technical documentation. If necessary for a particular technical audience
or to maintain consistency with previous documentation, use option button,
noting on first use that it's also called radio button, and include in the
index as a synonym for option button.
