You just listed a lot of bullets that will look GREAT on your resume.
Don't worry, you won't forget how to write. But you CAN add to your
skillset, and that will NEVER hurt you!
It sounds like you have a lot of initiative. That's a good quality, and
very refreshing in this day of the dull-eyed "sorry but that's not in my
job description" drones that abound in today's offices.
In other words, it sounds like you're kicking butt in your new position!
If it REALLY isn't to your liking, you might consider a move elsewhere.
But I must caution you, the type of worker who lives by the "I'm a writer,
and that's all I can or will do" credo is the most easily replaced. In the
current economic climate, tech writers are being laid off all over the
place. They'll be replaced later, when utterly necessary or affordable. Or
maybe not at all. This isn't necessarily fair, but it is true.
You, on the other hand, have your fingers in many pies, which (I'd think)
makes you much more difficult to replace! Also, it sounds like your
contributions are very visible to your company, another thing that is
seldom the case for "mere" tech writers. I'd say you should revel in the
conspicuosness (sp?) of your contributions, and enjoy the greater job
security that your higher profile can earn you.
