Have you considered using layers with JavaScript? This might be a viable
solution if you can demand that your users have browsers that support layers
(HTML 4.0). You can toggle between visible layers depending on user-controlled
events.

You could use a test such as

if (document.layers) {
     ...stuff...
}
else ... print out browser requirements and where to get latest browser ...

This would cover you if a user has an older browser.
