I'll tell ya exactly why I like being a tech writer...

I like playing with new, cool software and hardware, and as a TW, I
get to play with any software and hardware toys that I need to do my
job, and the software and hardware that I'm exposed to that I'm
writing about.

STILL...when I get something to work or figure something out, will
think "COOL!"

The only time I get a kick out being "a writer" is when I travel
overseas and at customs, when they ask your occupation on the form, I
say "writer", not tech writer.
