I did this on purpose - although maybe I was too cryptic. I
wanted exactly the kinds of reactions I am getting, and didn't
want to have people's reactions changed depending on whether
they thought I wrote it (I didn't) or not.
What I specifically was after was whether this kind of
information belonged in a post-purchase install guide,and
whether it was patronizing as written... and whether it was even
necessary in the first place.
Thanks for the rewording - it comes much closer to what I
thought would be more appropriate.
There's no such thing as useless information, only information for which you haven't found a use yet.
