On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia; but if I had a choice, working with QA has been the best as far as information gathering when you're writing for the end user. I'm a non-technical TW.

QA analysts and managers may hold the reins when it comes to implementation schedules, so you know when your deadlines really are. Ask a QA analyst how a product really works, and you'll get a straight answer and more besides. (Ask a programmer and you'll find out how it's _supposed_ to work, but not when.)

Since the QA people often work closely with programmers and developers, I could ask QA about the best person to talk to for technical matters. QAers generally have the most detailed documentation, too: surprising how much you can learn about a product's features 'n' benefits from a good test plan.

I've worked with network engineers too; nice people, but hard to understand with bagels in their mouths. Or were those cables?
