Although it seems like the company should pay for at least part of Bob's
computer or DSL line, he is not paying any commuting costs. He also has the
flexibility to work whichever eight hours a day he wants. It seems that
this is a very good trade-off.
If there is a concern about using up his hard-drive space for installing of
special programs and so forth, he can always get another hard drive
installed for this purpose. Our family's home network is comprised of four
computers with a total of six hard drives, two tape drives, and a CD-RW
drive. I would be more than happy to dedicate one of those to my company if
it meant not commuting!
