Serial commas are things like this, this, this, and so on.

The area where people get into
number-of-angels-that-can-fit-on-a-head-of-a-pin debates is whether to put
a comma after the last word before "and."

In other words, some would prefer this, this, this and so on.

Pick one, be consistent, and go back to work.
